Tivoli cloud product manager Robin Hernandez talks with Judith Hurwitz, author of Service management for dummies, Cloud computing for dummies, and Hybrid cloud for dummies about "cloud done right." She advocates starting with a strategy for managing workload, fulfilling requirements, and satisfying the need for governance and latency. Judith warns against doing "random acts of cloud."
Once a business understands the performance requirements and security needs of an application, it can choose the appropriate cloud environment: public or private. Hybrid cloud use -- running cloud applications on private or public clouds depending on requirements, time constraints, and revenue implications -- will become the new norm.
