Here's an interesting photo and tech news piece on Europe's Large Hadron Collider (LHC). That thing looks a lot like the collapsible colander my mom used to use, except hers did not have that nice brass tone to it. You remember them, don't you? The colanders that folded down for storage? I think George Lucas used them for telescoping port holes on his space ships in the original Star Wars. As a matter of fact, I'm sure of this because I spotted some broccoli hanging off of one of them in that movie. My mom used to steam broccoli until it turned the color of the colander. It took me two decades to learn to like broccoli again.
