Show Root Cause/Supressed Events in ITNM 3.8 don't work, you might get one of following three errors:
1. Failed to execute CGI "/cgi-bin/launch-suppressed-events.cgi". Contact your administrator.
the reason for this error is because the default cgi script come with the product uses wrong path to perl binary. this can be fixed by editing the first line of $TIPHOME/profiles/TIPProfiles/etc/webtop/cgi-bin/launch-rootcause-event.cgi , use the full path of a working perl binary in this line. following is an example:
2. This is not a suppressed event (NmosCauseType = 2) or This is not a root cause event (NmosCauseType = 1)
the reason for this error is because the event you run the tool against is not a Symptom or Root Cause event. make sure in the value of NmosCauseType field 2 or 1.
3. the tool runs, shows an empty AEL.
you need to verify that there is a root cause event for sympton alarm and vis-versa, by checking values in Serial,NmosSerial and NmosCauseType. once this is verified, please check the URL in the pop-up browser window, if you see any of following words, you are using a bugged version of cgi script: "filter","view" and "basic"
"filter" is a depreciated reserved word of WEBGui, it should be replaced by "sql"
"view" is a depreciated reserved word of WEBGui, it should be replaced by "viewname"
"basic" is a depreciated default view that come with older Webtop, it should be replaced by "Default" which always exist. of cause you can use any view that's currently defined in your Webtop/WEBGui
if replacing those words fixes the issue, you might want to make those changes permanently in your cgi script. I've attached a copy of both below:
