WebSphere Application Server V8 has been released recently. There are several new features introduced in this release. Here let's just look at WebSphere MQ JMS related changes.
The integration with WebSphere MQ remains the same as WebSphere Application Server(WAS) V7 version. So if you have an existing application communicating with WebSphere MQ, you wouldn't see any change in its behavior. Some new features or changes made are:
- Ability to disable WebSphere MQ
Now you can completely disable WebSphere MQ code from loading. Refer to this link for more details.
- Support for WebSphere MQ Connection Name List
Since the release of WMQ v7, the connection name list could be specified instead of host name and port. The Admin UI of WAS was lacking this function in WAS v7 and users had to specify that as a custom property. Now connection name list can be easily specified in a user friendly way via the Admin UI. Refer to this link for details.
- Other changes include easier access to WMQ resource adapter properties, additional properties on destination and connection panels.
Also to add WebSphere Application Server v8 shipped with the WebSphere MQ 184.108.40.206 JCA RA which is the same level of resource adapter included in WebSphere Application Server 220.127.116.11
