"After some investigation, we concluded that we do not have the time or resources to redo ALL the toolbar icons (there are a lot!) and also to test them to make sure all the conditionalization works to show the right toolbar on the right platform."

I just don't it. If you don't have the resources, who does? You're IBM! This delay may be a good thing anyway. It maybe give the time to a couple of other colors than ORANGE, witch is so dominant in all your icons that it's even more difficult to recognize them.

And when you say "We're working on Photoshop pictures right now. I may or may not post them-- I don't want to get your hopes up too high in case the actual rendering is not quite as beautiful as Carrie's pictures."...

"I DON'T WANT TO GET YOUR HOPES TOO HIGH" - Is that what you tell your boss on Monday morning meeting? Or maybe you're thinking about the Photoshop mockup of the LN8 beta Workspace (http://www-128.ibm.com/developerworks/blogs/page/marybeth?entry=workspace_redesign_2) that end-up so boring.

I’m sorry miss, but you got to raise that bar if you want to ship a better UI, especially for the Mac user.

Out of curiosity. Why do you use a Photo editor (Adobe Photoshop)as opposed to something like Adobe Fireworks (similar, but its main purpose is designing web interfaces and application UIs)?

After using FW for a while, I would never, ever, go back to photoshop (for anything related to designing interfaces), and I've always wondered why so many people use Photoshop for this tasks.

I would like you to watch this screenshot of lotus notes 8.5 beta running on a mac without turning on the excuses maker in the back of your mind then print it and do an emergency meeting with all your staff, show it and say : -"youre all fired unless you find a way to remove this!"

If you ever want to target Mac users, there is no way other than creating a REAL Mac application. No Mac user will like "Windows" looking software on his Mac. Because software that looks like Windows always "feels" like Windows - which no Mac user is going to accept easily.

I wanted to install it, and this comes up:

"This can only be installed on Mac OS X 10.5. Current OS Version is too low."

On a MacBook Pro with 10.5.2 installed. Yeah. Good Job IBM. You'll never get Mac Users that way.
