My friend Koranteng has posted another excellent set of thoughts regarding Web applications. In it he quotes Rands in Repose: "The back button is not a bug in Ajax, it's a flaw in the browse metaphor" to which I respond with: It ain't the screwdriver's fault if the nails don't go in. The browser metaphor is not flawed; it works perfectly well for what it was originally designed to do. Oh.. what's that? You want it to do more than what it was originally designed to do? Very well, choose a different metaphor.
