As usual, I cannot go into specifics about what I'm working on (darn confidentiality rules!) but the generalities are OK. Here's the list: Eclipse, Webtools, Rational Application Developer, WebSphere, EMF, Web Service Notification, Web Service Resource Framework, REST, Blogging, and general nonsense and mischief.
The first five items in the list have me digging into the bowels of Eclipse and Rational Application Developer source code. The next three have me looking at a very interesting and cool application prototype / demo (yes, it will use SOAP Web services AND REST based design principles). The Blogging item involves me working to help expand the use of blogging within and across IBM through advocacy and efforts to help establish and define corporate blogging policy. The last item is what keeps me sane.
How does all of this square with my personal mantra ("the practical application of emerging technologies")? I so wish I could go into detail on this stuff now. But it comes down to this: the most interesting applications tend to be those things that do not seek to introduce something new; rather, they are those things that reuse what we've already got in innovative and interesting ways. New is not always practical.
So what am I working on these days
