IE7? No thanks.

Well, word comes this week that Microsoft is going to be coming out with an update to Internet Explorer. No thanks. I switched to Firefox early last year and am not moving back. Microsoft's scheduled update is too little too late to win back this former IE user. Even IF the update eliminates the spyware problem; even IF the update improves standards support; even IF the update introduces tabbed browsing; even IF the update fixes the myriad of bugs that have plagued IE for years, the best it can hope for is to be as good as Firefox already is and it will still be limited to the Windows platform. Personally, I like having one consistently excellent browser that works on both my Windows and Linux machines. The fact that Firefox is open source just adds icing to the cake. I'm not switching back.
