Leading into this years Gnomedex, Microsoft appears to have made a great PR play in getting Dave Winer to break the news early about their RSS Lists stuff. As the conference begins, all eyes and attention are on Microsoft and the buzz about what IE might be doing with RSS. Bravo. Great way to upstage everyone else who was planning on making announcements this week. :-)
Personally, I'm just going to wait and see and hope that whatever MS has put together is going to be licensed in a way that makes it truly open. E.g. are there any patents we need to worry about? Royalty Free? Is there going to be any problem implementing it on GPL-based software? Is Microsoft going to be open to submitting their extensions for standardization at any point?
