SPSS (originally, Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) was released in its first version in 1968. IBM acquired SPSS in 2009 and today it is an important part of the IBM Business Analytics portfolio.
One of the SPSS products, SPSS Modeler Professional, is popular with analysts and business users alike. Its automated data preparation and
models quickly and easily without specialized skills.
The screen capture on the left shows a typical SPSS Modeler script, all graphical with icons that are dragged and dropped onto the canvas and then connected with a couple of mouse clicks.
Data sources are connected to the input nodes and the overall result is a reusable data mining model of great sophistication.
