I'm back from meetings at the IBM T. J. Watson Research Center in Yorktown (and, happily out of the city before the Republican National Convention). I can't really reveal what I was doing at the labs except to say that there's a group of Fellows from various parts of the company who have been brought together to lay some plans for IBM for the next decade. As Alan Kay once said, the best way to predict the future is to invent it.
I only read four books on this trip, so it was a slow week :-) but now that I'm back, I'm returning to the pile of architecture books I've collected, in order to finish the general architecture section of the Handbook. At the same time, I'm planning a trip to Tokyo and three different trips to the West Coast to interview some architects.
