Hi Guy,

First thank you for all this explanation.
I've had a memory allocation problem which seems to be the same as you described. But the system just raise an "[ENOMEM] [12] out of shared memory" error message. The server is a Win 2003 running IDS 9.4.
I suggest to my client first to use 3GB option in boot.ini.
Thank you in advance for your response.

Hello Hamza,

This post may help you with troubleshooting: http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/blogs/page/gbowerman?entry=dll_hell_part_3_optimizing
There are many possibilities depending on when the error occurs. Using /3GB allows them to increase the number of buffers and tune shared memory close to 2.7GB.
Look at the circumstances that produce this error - does it occur after several days - does the Windows handle count for the oninit process go up over time, etc..

Hi Guy,

Thanks for your response. Actually the problem happens at the peak time, when the SHM riches certain limit of memory. This is why I tought of increasing the available SHM with the /3GB option.
I don't know if I am in the right way. We will test it and see if it could resolve this HELL.
