My customer presentation last week in Livermore, CA allowed me to take PowerLinux to "new depths" by presenting in a wine cellar! Check out the photo of the cellar entrance I posted out in Google+. While you're out there, feel free to follow Jeff Scheel on or PowerLinux on .
- PowerLinux combines the strength of the Power Platform with industry standard Linux.
If you are thinking about Linux as simply another x86 operating system, you're missing the key value. Linux allows you to invest once in the OS and leverage the strengths of a particular hardware platform. This means that Linux on Power System and IBM PowerLinux servers benefit from PowerVM virtualization, POWER processor performance, and RAS (Reliability, Availability, and Serviceability) -- the key differentiators that helped IBM become #1 in the UNIX market.
- The IBM PowerLinux Servers offer TCA-competitive solutions.
Yes, I've written that correctly: the new PowerLinux servers are Total Cost of Acquisition competitive. On a core-for-core equivalently configured 2U rack server, PowerLinux servers have a very compelling price. We don't even have to do TCO analysis to justify the purchase. However, if you still want TCO analysis, imagine what happens when perform that exercise with a Power box but start at a great TCA: TCO only gets better!!!
- IBM has lots of information available to you and is willing to continue the discussion.
Since you've found the PowerLinux community in developerWorks, you've obviously got a great start. If you're interested in learning more, feel free to reach out to your local business partner, your friendly IBMer, or even me. We are all here to help.
