Systems of records vs. Systems of engagements : Evolution or Revolution??

There is a lot of discussion and debate across the IT industry today around the notion of the “system of engagements” recently described by G. Moore and various analysts as the next wave and key direction for the entire IT industry. In a nutshell the basic idea is that we need to evolve from the current approach to IT matured over the last 20years (Systems of records) based on key principles such as :

This discussion has clear implications with Service management and with Tivoli portfolio especially in the Cloud Orchestration area.
In Tivoli we want not just to be part of this discussion but we want to lead and experiment in this direction always in synch and support from the community; therefore as part of our “transparent development” principle we will always share with you the sprints and development we will put in place in this area for your feedback.
At this stage I think it would be very helpful to have your insight to set up the appropriate context and level set so I really encourage each of you to share your perspective and recommendations (if any) in this area.
