The ETTK includes several technologies associated with XML and Web Services. These are both active areas at the W3C, which has held workshops in both areas. XML Schema has been used extensively for several years and the W3C has gotten people together to share experiences with it. The W3C Workshop on XML Schema 1.0 User Experiences has recently been summarized in a Summary Report that includes many interesting recommendations including a type library and a W3C published best practices document. The W3C Workshop on Frameworks for Semantics in Web Services has not published a report, but the workshop minutes have been recently published. I participated in that workshop and there was considerable support for a W3C pre-standardization activity for Web services semantics, but not for immediately starting a work group.
