Organizations today are increasingly recognizing the benefits of using agile development to allow developers to build products faster. While most large corporations see definite advantages in using the agile approach, organizations are lost when it comes to managing the different metrics across projects. Many organizations continue to use traditional project metrics and struggle to map these to the agile metrics.
With agile development becoming mainstream there is an increasing need for an automated metric gathering approach that would relieve the burden from the project members, while ensuring that management has up to date, accurate information to use as the basis for decision making.
Some of the typical agile metrics are things like burndown and velocity. Mapping these concepts to traditional project status like percent complete and expected ship date can become onerous.
