|Today I received a mail forward from one of my engineering class-mate, which I've posted to the left. Initially I was wondering if the huge box in the picture was some defense equipment. After reading through the mail, I was really surprised.|
Its a hard disk in 1956!!! Just see the size of 5MB memory storage then. The mail goes further: In September 1956 IBM launched the 305 RAMAC, the first computer with a hard disk drive(HDD). The HDD weighed over a ton and stored 5MB of data.
I checked out at the archives site to make sure it is true. Ever thought how things in tech were some 50 years back?
Nanotechnology will enable the design of an object on all length scales. Things changed, changed and changed. Many contributed in many ways to the evolution of Technology. We've changed from Mainframe era to client/server era and now to an On Demand era.
Today, IBM is Innovator's innovator. I wonder what it will be in half a century from now!
What can be more and beyond Innovation? Can you think of anything? I guess it all starts with people. Let me know.
