This developerWorks group is focused on the IBM InfoSphere Optim suite of ILM (Information Lifecycle Management) solutions. A place to learn a little or a lot, depending on your preference. A place to also understand an industry expert's point of view as to best practices and implementation, where to find the 'happy road', and how to avoid the landmines. Optim has really grown since IBM's acquisition of Princeton Softech just over 5 years ago. What's exciting is how the product line continues to mature and evolve, and to integrate with complementary solutions, bringing a breadth unmatched by anyone. Join us at Information on Demand 2012 in Las Vegas, October 21st-25th, if you want to find out more! Details are here: http://www-01.ibm.com/software/data/2012-conference/ .
A little about me, I’ve worked with ‘Data Management’, the big wide world of data, databases, integrating data, and the people who care for and feed them, for over 28 years. In that time I’ve worked with everything from ‘Troll’ (econometric modeling database from MIT) to Total, Model 204, IMS, IDMS, Adabas, VSAM, flat files, C-ISAM, rdb, Ingres, Oracle, SQL Server, Sybase, Informix, MySQL and most recently, DB2. Lots of DB2… And let’s not forget Big Data. What I’ve found the most fascinating is that data seems to still live in the ‘Wild West’- few rules, many sheriffs, and unknown dangers lurking around the corner.. or out in the wilderness. I'm also passionate about Governance and in particular, Big Data Governance. Talk about wilderness... the great thing about Governance, is there is so much to do, so much to learn.. We are really just getting started. For more info, see my group CCBigData, Twitter feed @CCBigData.
