We seem to be doing well without XRI. Is this a solution looking for aproblem? If the standard is adopted will it cause yet more contention?Or will it disappear into oblivion if none of the major vendorsimplement it?
Indeed, we seem to be muddling along quite nicely without XRI. The W3C TAG recently issued a finding that recommends against XRI
. I am glad to see them issue this finding. Frankly, there are too many unanswered questions introduced by XRI, yet you can achieve the objectives with the HTTP URI scheme and DNS. Maybe it's time for the XRI TC members to ask themselves: 'maybe we should rethink this'. I certainly hope that they will take this opportunity to do so.
