Sometimes OMNIbus Web GUI users would prefer not to have entire rows in the Active Event List coloured according to the severity level of the respective events. It is possible to turn off row colouring, but it should be noted that there is a recommended way of doing this, and a non-recommended way.
Some users have attempted to turn off row colouring in the AEL by re-configuring the colour configuration for their ObjectServer using the OMNIbus Adminstrator utility:
These users re-configured their ObjectServer so that every severity used white as its associated colour. Whilst this technique does achieve the desired outcome, it also means that no colouring would be shown in other areas of Web GUI, such as the Event Dashboard, where it might still be very useful.
The suggested approach, therefore, is for users to use an AEL preference setting to turn off row colouring. The user would open the preferences dialog from their AEL, and uncheck the "Show Colors" option on the Event List tab:
After doing this, the AEL will be displayed with all rows using white as the background colour:
If desired, it is also possible to change the icons used to represent the different event severities in the AEL. The severity icons can be found in the following directory:
Web GUI 7.3.1:
TIPHOME/profiles/TIPProfile/installedApps/TIPCell/isc.ear/OMNIbusWebGUI.war/graphicconversions/severity
Web GUI 7.3.0:TIPH
OME/systemApps/isclite.ear/Webtop.war/graphicconversions/severity
The icons are represented by 16 by 16 pixel PNG files, named after the corresponding numerical severity levels. Below is a screen shot of the AEL after changing the severity icons to be simple coloured squares:
