I am attending the IBM i LUG session this week in Rochester MN. Aside from having to leave the relative warmth of a Chinook in Calgary, it has been a great time to interact with IBM i customers on the use of DB2 Connect.
The primary use of DB2 Connect by IBM i customers I have come across here is .NET (specifically the Entiry Framework with VS 2010) and Ruby. The biggest concern raised by the customers about DB2 Connect is the pricing - this is surely something I will be taking back and working with my colleagues on.
There seems to be alot of interest from customers in trying out DB2 Connect, thus another take away I have is to find a mechanism to enable customers to kick the tires and determine the value for DB2 Connect and use that information in their evaluation of the product.
