So today is finally here. 2/8/2010, February 8, 8/02/2010. Monday. The day after the Super Bowl. The launch of POWER7 systems.
IBM today announced new POWER7 systems designed to manage the most demanding emerging applications. The new systems incorporate industry-unique technologies for the specialized demands of new applications and services that rely on processing an enormous number of concurrent transactions and data while analyzing that information in real time.
IBM is #1 in over 100 benchmarks across a wide portfolio of applications. Let's look at just a few new ones.
The new POWER7-based IBM Power 750 Express is:
2.9x greater performance than the Sun SPARC T5440 for Java(1) 3.3x better performance than the Sun SPARC T5440 for SAP(2) 3.2x greater performance than the Sun SPARC M9000 for HPC(3)
You can find more performance data on each server page.
So it's Monday and 5 degrees outside and you may even be a Colts fan. But not to worry. We now have POWER7 Systems to power our planet.
