New H spec keyword CCSIDCVTA new H spec keyword, CCSIDCVT, is added through PTFs for 6.1 and 7.1. For full details, see http T You can use CCSIDCVT(*EXCP) to get an exception when a conversion results in loss of data at runtime. You can use CCSIDCVT(*LIST) to get information about all the CCSID conversions in your program, including warnings about conversions that have the potential to lose data. CCSIDCVT(*EXCP) is also useful for RPG programmers who may be concerned about
performance, to see all the CCSID conversions that are being done in the
module, either implicitly or explicitly. Some conversions can be avoided by carefully choosing the correct data type and CCSID for work variables. I think this keyword will be useful for everyone who uses UCS-2 in their RPG applications. (I've been a bit remiss in updating the Cafe with information about these PTFs. They have been available for several months.) |
