IBM Customer explains how Social Business helped them |
Advertising is a great use of Social businessAdvertising is a great tool that can be leveraged by social business. As seen recently, Pepsi used YouTube to promote their soda. On their YoutTube channel, their featured video is the Super Bowl commercial featuring Elton John. An interesting thing I noticed is that in the top right it says that this Youtube channel has over 17 thousand subscribers. I also noticed that this particular video has had been viewed over 4 million time. One of the biggest advantages of promoting social business is that you can reach a bigger audience. Let’s face it, there’s no way a newspaper ad, flyer, online ad or television commercial could reach that many people. |

YouTube's EvolutionYouTube isn't just a large video-sharing website. It has slowly evolved
and incorporated more social media into the website. Video feedback can
be seen in the comments section and are even talked about on other
forums on the web. Users can subscribe to their favorite video creators
and follow them on their profile pages. Profile pages now have recent
activity such as what users like and comment on. When the creator of
videos comments on their own video, it shows up first on the comment
feed. I even use YouTube as a video search engine now. Instead of having
to read through tutorials, I just search for an introductory video on
YouTube. For all the latest advances to YouTube: |

Apple's Game CenterLet’s look at one of Apple’s social networks: the Game Center. Apple introduced their Game Center in September 2010 for all their iOS 4 devices. In February 2012 they announced: their Game Center will be integrated into their latest version of OS X, Mountain Lion (release: summer 2012). Features of the Game Center are: connect with friends, send friend requests, organize online multiplayer games, achievements, collecting rewarded points and a leader board. With its Game Center Apple created a serious competitor for Microsoft’s Xbox Live (for the Xbox 360) and also for Sony’s PlayStation Network (for PlayStation 3). Mashable states that “Game Center is likely to be the first successful service of its type on any mobile platform.“ (http://mashable.com/2010/04/08/apple-game-center) |

Kevin's One Cent: iPad 3 worth it?!Welcome all Apple lovers and haters; I am sure you have all heard about the release of the iPad 3 by now. If you already have an iPad and wonder if the upgrade is worth buying then take a look at the changes that Apple has made. Apple upgraded the display of the iPad 3 to Retina Display which makes images even more crisp and clear. They also included a faster processor for more fluid usage. On the other hand, the iPad 3 can easily overheat, has no expandable storage, and is even thicker than the iPad 2! Save yourself some money and stick with the older model or cash in on the price drop of the iPad 2. |
iTunes PingPing was introduced by apple in 2010. Apple integrated the social network into iTunes to function as a ‘social music network’. It launched with already 1 million users in 23 countries. Steve Jobs explained in 2010 that Ping was sort of like Facebook and Twitter integrated into iTunes. Originally it was build with a Facebook integration but soon after the release Apple removed it. Facebook didn’t authorize Ping to access FB since Apple didn’t agree on terms and conditions. Right after its launch Ping was flooded with spam. As Apple didn’t set up a spam or URL filter in the first place. Ping also had to deal with fake accounts. |
Ways to Attract CustomersIf you're doing business with social media, you need to make sure you have the right ways to get yourself expose out in the Internet. Google has expanded the keyword searching business. Twitter also uses keywords by using the # and a keyword. So to get the right attention from the customers, one must use the accurate word to tweet to get attention it deserves. Another way to get new customers is through visuals. Image is the next best thing to actual standing to the product or service. It gives an idea of how product or service work and it also promote a want to many interest minds. In addition, if you want attentions, you need to have people to engage in your activity. Any competition contests helps to promote and maybe it gets you free marketing from words of mouth. Lastly, if you're using social media platforms, make sure you make it look nice as much as possible because ultimately visuals are everything. |
Cloud ComputingWhy
should your company switch to cloud computing? Cloud is the offering of
technology as a service rather than as a product. This gives users
access to exactly what they need for any particular task and it also
cuts out the management of hardware and software. Businesses are moving
to the cloud because it allows for a more efficient way to collaborate.
The cloud offers a wide range of services that can be implemented to
make your business more cost efficient and accessible to your employees.
If you want a better understanding of the cloud, I have included a

Advertising using social mediaIs it time for your company to go social? Marketers have used digital ads and their own Web sites over the years to advertise their products. Nowadays, they use social networks like Facebook and Twitter to get their product or service out there. Marketers now use in-text ads which are highlighted keywords and link you to another page. There are even ads that contain menu tabs for you to navigate to their Facebook or Youtube video all done within the ad itself. They have also implemented video ads before viewing videos that receive a lot of traffic. Some companies now use contest promotions over Facebook and Twitter to get their name to trend on Twitter or appear on users’ news feed on Facebook. |
Another Google's April Fools'Google's release several April Fools' prank. Some were pretty good and believable while others can actually incorporate into the current product. For example, Google released a 8bit NES gaming interface onto its Google Map, which it looks like an old days RPG gaming. It is an interesting idea that can potentially become the fun version of Google Map. Here are some interesting points that Google has created. Parthenon, Greece, Area 51, Mount Everst. Don't forget to watch how it works at Google! |
