On June 10, 2011, a new report option has been made available for Maximo 6 clients in the version 6.2.8 release. This option extends our current suite of reporting tools to enable the user of BIRT reporting thru a Maximo version 7 instance. This new integration is called Version 7 Report Integration, or V7RI.
The V7RI integration utilizes the ERI, External Report Integration to integrate your existing Maximo 6 environment to a version 7 Environment, which is configured for reporting only.
To enable this configuration, you will install either a version 220.127.116.11 or version 7.5 instance. This V7 instance will be utilized for administrative and reporting capabilities only, and a V7 database instance will be used as the repository for the report design files. Therefore, the V7RI architecture encompasses a version 6 and version 7 Maximo instance, along with two database instances.
Utilizing the V7RI option in your Maximo 6 environment, will enable you a number of key benefits including:
Streamlines future Report Upgrades. When you create reports with V7RI, you are creating reports using the same functionality utilized today in version 7, including the BIRT report designer, Maximo templates, libraries and data source. This will streamline your future V7 report upgrade – and the only potential modifications required for your reports will be sql changes due to Maximo 7 database updates.
Proven solution deployed world wide today. The V7RI has been deployed world wide in over 30 instances, enabling you to implement its mature solution quickly.
Enables usage of version 7 reports. By utilizing the V7RI, you will also gain access to the hundreds of out of the box version 7 reports. Some reports can be used as is, while you can use others as a starting point for your own custom reports.
Capitalizes on existing installation and administration. Using a Maximo version 7 environment as your report server enables you to capitalize on existing installation procedures, documentation, and administration that you are familiar with from Maximo 6 – along with new functionality you will use in your future version 7 upgrades.
Provides access to version 7 report documents and best practices. Numerous documents and best practice information, including details on Configuration, Design, Development, Execution, and Administration of version 7 reports, can be used by you in this integration. This information can be found here
Requires no additional licensing. As a Maximo 6 client, you are entitled to the V7RI report integration. No additional licensing costs, users fees, or maintenance of other 3rd party licenses are required.
