Are we there yet? Even with a GPS depicting the exact minute of our arrival, I heard (and thought!) these same words multiple times over the course of driving our 1246 mile adventure these last four days!
You may hear these same words as you may travel with your family this summer, and you may also wonder if we are there yet with reporting in Maximo. As noted in the July 2012 Maximo Report Upgrade Session referenced here, reporting has evolved tremendously over the last 12 years from its initial focus on architecture to its current focus on data analysis and best practices.
And while there will always be new features and functionality to enable for you, as noted in last week’s BiLog entry, an upgrade to BIRT 3.7.1 is available now for you with the Maximo 7503 release.
With this new release, the version of BIRT used has been upgraded from Version 2.3.2 to Version 3.7.1. If you are upgrading to this newer version of BIRT from an earlier Maximo release, please keep the following best practices in mind during your upgrade:
1. Backup your report source before proceeding with any report upgrade
2. Maintain multiple versions of the BIRT Designer during your upgrade.
3. Configure the new BIRT Designer 3.7.1 to the corresponding Maximo Version 188.8.131.52 templates and libraries
4. Re-Encrypt the mxre
5. If you see any report upgrade errors, confirm that any fields that may have been previously removed from the reports, have also had their data bindings removed.
For more details on these best practices, reference the ‘Upgrading to BIRT Report Designer 3.7.1’ section in the Maximo BIRT 371 Report Development guide available here
Additionally, you can download the BIRT 3.7.1 Designer here
Over the next few weeks, we'll continue to detail the new features enabled for reporting with the Maximo 184.108.40.206 release. Also, please remember to input any report enhancement requests you have in the RFE (Request for Enhancement) site here
