BiLog: Virtual Hoarding....Version 7.5 Email URL Details
Are you a virtual hoarder? TV Reality shows feature physical hoarders, and whether you view them with empathy or contempt, they highlight the impact of accumulating more items that a person can care for. Virtual hoarding is similar – where a person is unable to free themselves of files, pictures and emails. Over time, this can impact their ability to find the information they need, and depending on their unique environment, can have significant impact on storage space and costs. To combat this problem, many of us have IT departments which... [More]

Managing Fleets in Maximo ACM
What is a Fleet in ACM (Asset Configuration Manager) ? A Fleet is a (dynamic) list of end-items (Aircraft, Engines, Rail Vehicles etc) that have some form of common association, e.g. all the assets may have the same operator or owner, or may all be of a particular Model or Variation. The fleets that are created are then used in the Maximo ACM Fleet Usage Load application to facilitate the bulk data load of meters against a fleet of assets and, may also be used for reporting capability. Use Case: An OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) or an... [More]

BiLog: The Best...V7 Best Practices Data Analysis Options
Have you ever been the best? The best runner in a race, the best student in your class, or the best Scrabble player? While I’ve never had the chance to stand on that best podium, I’ve come pretty close with a second place showing in a local Apple Pie Baking Contest! Some thoughts on the use IBM Maximo around Infrastructure, roads, rail etc.
Assetmanagement searches for balance between preformance, risk and costs to control and maintain infra- and civil assets. Next to that the influence of availability guarantees, especially when it is needed, and also the growing importance of safety, environment, economy, certification, reliability and efficiency. The Asset Management Community also has to take into account influences from our Smarter Planet, new measurements methods, new information available from sensors, measurements, but also the increasing amount of vidoe camera's alongside... Adding and making an initial configuration on ACM Models with the Maximo Integration Framework
Maximo Asset Configuration Manager (ACM) allows the construction, use and management of complex assets. These assets are generated based on structures known as Models. These models are built based on sub components known as build items (cm items). The ACM 7.5.0.1 patch introduced the ability to use the Maximo Integration Framework (MIF) to perform many ACM functions and load data into associated tables. One of the most common and time consuming functions used within (ACM) is the addition and configuration of complex Models. These operations... [More]

BiLog: Best Practice...Investing in Report Object Structures (ROS)
If they enter it…they will want a report on it. Mirrored off the infamous words ‘If you build it…they will come’ from the movie ‘Field of Dreams’ - these words were recently re-enacted to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Fenway Park, Home of the Boston Red Sox. Going back to reporting…. If they enter it…they will want a report on it. We all know these words hold true with the never ending report requests we receive. Our users enter data in the various Maximo applications, and then want reports which detail and analyze those vast... [More]

Performance Analyst 1.0.0 Released
Performance Analyst is a tool aimed to make performance analysis manageable. Performance analysis is all about data, I mean, large amount of data . Sometime there might be days of application logs and performance data for us to sort out the reason why it slowed down or even crashed. Other times we might have to figure out what's wrong with the slow database server and queries, given a few hundred mega bytes of database snapshot data. Humans are good at detecting peculiarities and finding out the symptoms of problems, but our eyes are not made... [More]

Audit Tracking in Maximo
Over the last few years I've talk to a lot of Maximo users and implementers and one of the most FAQ often asked is, "How can we keep track of attribute changes?" It's very clear that Maximo users value their data and want an ability to keep track of changes made to attributes they love the most. By default there are many type of changes which are already tracked historically, like the history of an Asset moving from one location to another or the status changes of a Work Order but if a customer adds new attributes or wants to track... How to configure Maximo Mobile with SSL?
Maximo Mobile applications are Java based applications that run on Windows based devices, such as PDAs with Windows Mobile, and Netbooks, Notebooks and Desktops. Those applications use a HTTP channel to exchange data, like Assets, Locations, Work Orders and Tickets with Maximo EAM. The HTTP protocol by itself does not provide cryptography on the data transport. The combination of HTTP + SSL (Security Socket Layer) support the data exchange between the server that hosts Maximo EAM and the Maximo Mobile applications. This combination is widely... [More]
