What's Different in Maximo Calibration 7.5?
Calibration is described as the comparison of an asset’s performance to a standard of known accuracy. It is an add-on solution for Maximo and in versions prior to Maximo 7.5 it would create cloned (Cal) applications that added specific calibration functionality. The difference in Calibration 7.5 is that calibration features are no longer in cloned (Cal) applications. Calibration functionality has been merged into the core application and is enabled once the calibration license has been installed. For example, in the Asset application a new... [More]

BiLog: One Eyed Al….Data Restrictions and Reporting
One eyed Al rules a massive section of the Turner River in the midst of the Florida Everglades. While meticulously kayaking past the aptly named alligator on a recent morning, his enormous 12 foot length and massive, powerful jaw instantaneously communicated to us his control over all living beings on this portion of the river bed. And just as One Eyed Al restricts use of his area of the Turner River, you can enable data restrictions with BIRT reporting in the Version 7 releases to control what database records your individual... The MAXSESSION Table Unmasked
Note: Barb Ballard recently posted the following blog entry in the Process Automation Group. Since it equally applies to Asset Management, I thought I would post it here too. When debugging a problem or when looking to recycle a JVM, it is useful to
know which users are logged onto the system and what JVM they are working on.
If a JVM needs to be recycled, you could then notify the users on that JVM that they will
get an interruption in service. Or when debugging a problem it is useful to
know what a user was doing on a particular JVM... [More]

When to use Child Work Orders, Tasks and the Multi Asset Location Table on Work Orders
When to use Child Work Orders, Tasks and the Multi Asset Location Table on Work Orders in Maximo In my blog entry this week I wanted to talk about the different ways you can utilize work orders to create projects or work packages in Maximo. The first question people tend to ask is: Should I use Child Work Orders, Tasks or this new Multi Asset/Location table? This is a very good question and the answer to this question depends on a number of factors. Let’s discuss those factors. When you have a large amount of work that needs to be done and you... [More]

BiLog: New V75 Cognos Integration Installation Guides
Responding to your requests, two new Version 7.5 Cognos Integration Installation guides are now available. These guides were based off the original Version 7.5 installation guides, and detail the two different ways you can enable the Maximo Cognos Integration. These two different options are enabled by either using your existing license of Cognos Reporting, or through your utilization of Tivoli Common Reporting. If you have Cognos Reporting Licenses, you can enable the Maximo Cognos Integration through the use of these licenses... [More]

Certified and ticketed for Pulse 2012
You can count on unpredictability when it comes to weather in New England. This winter has been virtually snowless, though many who had to rake deep snow off their roofs last year while waiting for power to be restored are enjoying the balmy temps. One thing that is consistent, however, is that Pulse is always an amazing showcase of products and services, and 2012 will be better than ever. Pulse runs March 4-7 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Final prep is underway to get our demos and presentations fine tuned so we can show as many people as... [More]

BiLog: Phenomenal Speeds...and V7 Report Comparison
Enabling speeds up to 186,000 miles per second, the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) houses the fastest racetrack in the world with protons traveling at 99.99999% the speed of light. Comparing this to the awe-inspiring space shuttle which blasts into space at 17,500 miles per hour, or 0.48 miles per second – and the race clearly belongs to LHC. From here, you could compare these magnificent enablers of scientific research in many different ways, including the costs and the time to build, number of... [More]
