SHARE and Web Services in Boston (August 21 - 26)
One of the activities I do in my "spare time" is to act as a SHARE volunteer. If you are not familiar with SHARE, it is a large user group, that has its foundations and traditions in the world of mainframe computing but these days their members cover a very broad spectrum of diciplines that include many of the more contemporary computing environments. SHARE holds two large conference events each year. The next one is just few weeks away (starting on August 21st) in Boston. As a SHARE volunteer, I help coordinate the speakers/agenda for and help run the WEBS Project. I am also a regular speaker myself. The WEBS project tends to focus on the new and emerging technology areas that have grown from the Web. In the past we have covered Java and XML topics extensively. These days we cover open standards, Web Services, SOA, Portals and even Grid Computing. If you are interested in the agenda for the WEBS project for Boston you will find it here. Also, if you are not familiar with SHARE I would encourage you to look at the full conference agenda.
