When Neal Ford was discussing his latest article with me, he explained his desire to cover this particular topic as follows:
"Contrary to popular belief, design patterns exist in functional programming -- but they sometimes differ from their object-oriented counterparts in appearance and behavior. I want to show readers ways in which patterns manifest in the functional paradigm, illustrating how the solutions differ. Once you understand the design goal the pattern addresses, you can often find simpler solutions in languages that support functional paradigms like higher-order functions. I'll show how this simple addition simplifies several Gang of Four patterns."
How could I say no to that? Neal embarks on his first in a multi-part series this week with Functional design patterns, Part 1.
