Web 2.0, SOA, and mashups; three familiar terms coming together with the help of IBM. Who wouldn't want the ability to re-use existing applications to surface useful information in composite applications with a new look and feel. Last week at the Web 2.0 summit, IBMer Rod Smith was able to captivate the audience with the idea of brining together SOA and Web 2.0. I almost compare that as a mashup of LOB's and IT managers. They don't always play nice and hard to get them to work together.
Rod discusses the idea of a Web 2.0 and SOA convergence that has also been discussed by Dion Hinchcliffe. I think both Rod and Dion are on the right path and I'm glad that they have the vision and willing to publicly start the discussion on how to link the multiple concepts behind Web 2.0 with SOA.
