One of the big advantages of IBM Support Assistant 5.0 Beta is the ability to run troubleshooting tools to help with your various troubleshooting tasks. See Types of Problem Determination Tools for IBM Support Assistant V5 for more information regarding the various types of problem determination tools available in IBM Support Assistant 5.0 Beta. The latest release of IBM Support Assistant provides a quick and easy way to access and review the reports generated as part of their execution.
A new Reports view shows you a list of all the available reports for a collection of diagnostic data in IBM Support Assistant called a case. The reports are sorted by most recent execution making it easy to locate the most relevant reports. This feature is particularly useful when running IBM Support Assistant in a Team Server environment, where multiple users interact with the same IBM Support Assistant instance. This helps you understand what tools have been executed for a particular case and what reports have been generated by others collaborating with you on the same troubleshooting investigation.
Figure 1, additional details and icons help you identify, at a glance, key information pertaining to each report. For example, you can determine if the tool that generated the report completed successfully or not, the name of the tool that generated the report, along with the input files the tool executed against. This rich and interactive user interface allows you to sort and filter the list of reports quickly to locate the report most important to you.
In addition to helping you discover what reports have been created, this new view also makes it easy to view the contents of each report. Simply select a report from the list of available reports and you will see the contents of the report in the preview on the right. Within the preview you can interact with the report and view the key details of the report.
Sometimes, you may want to re-run the tool with a different set of files or input parameters; from this view you will be able to do so very easily. Additionally, there are action buttons for navigating to the location of the output report or input files in the IBM Support Assistant Files view.
