As July's featured Electronic Support Tool, I'd like to take this opportunity to tell you about one of the new Fix Central features that is part of the latest May 2010 release. Our clients spoke up and we listened. Simply put, it's a bookmark feature. This great time saver is useful after you've completed a search for fixes. Here is how you use it.
After going through the usual steps to search for fixes, (See this 4 minute video on how to download a software fix from our IBM Electronic Support YouTube Channel), you get back a result set. In the upper, right quadrant of the Select fixes page, a "Generate a link to this page" link will appear.
Once you click that link, another page will open up and you will be presented with the link that you can then copy and paste into your favorites. It is this link that I copied and pasted as part of my tweet.
Another nifty bit about this feature is if I happen to select a fix or fixes on the Select fixes page, like so
Then, when I click on "Generate a link to this page", I actually get the fixid included so it takes me directly back to that fix.
So this is really helpful if you have several different products that you like to check to see what new fixes are available. Additionally, If you are searching for a particular APAR or SPR, if you include that on the Identify Fixes page, that too will be included on the generated link. Whatever you chose on the identify fixes page and select fixes page will be included in the generated link.
