last week was a busy one, meeting with customers in new york and california. in between we held our quarterly call with the isv and developer relations worldwide team. great discussion particularly on our asia call. collectively, we are making incredible progress on the numbers of new isv solutions being enabled on ibm platforms. the simple and consistent value proposition of: a strong product portfolio, open standards leadership and the genuine commitment to drive business with our partners is making a difference. it doesn't hurt either that both microsoft and oracle are increasingly seen by many in the isv community as major competitors. in the end it's about helping companies generate sales. the more that isvs embrace open standards and industry-leading platforms like websphere, the easier it is to align the ibm sales and services organizations with those partners.
the proof is in the numbers. solutions enabled on ibm platforms is up triple digits. revenue realized in joint-marketing activities with our isv partners is pushing $20b! key to this success is a consistent strategy -- year in and year out. but you can't forget about local execution. you can design the best game plan in the world, but if it doesn't play in peoria (or beijing or prague), it won't be worth anything. ibm's strength is the ability to bring together local teams including brand sales specialists, client coverage reps and services specialists with our partners working together on thousands of new opportunities. certainly, the momentum in ibm's software business can be tied directly to the strength of these local ecosystems.
things are good this summer, but what keeps me awake at night is worrying about the next big thing. as dynamic as the market is, it's essential we anticipate change and always focus on where value will be delivered. how does ibm continue to stay relevant to our isv partners? the world is changing. consolidation, open source, new delivery models like saas can mean challenges or huge opportunities. i think the latter is the case and you can bet we are not going to be sitting still.......
deliver value today, but prepare for tomorrow
