My son William and I finally took advantage of all this snow we've gotten in upstate New York by going sledding this afternoon. The best place to go around here is behind the Presbyterian church in a town about 7 miles from my home. They have a terrific hill with a great final descent that flattens out to several hundred yards of snow covered Little League field. It was warm today, 30 degrees Fahrenheit, but there was a stiff wind for those of standing at the top of the hill watching the kids go up and down. To top off the "aren't small towns great" moment, the local Kiwanis club was giving away free hot dogs and hot chocolate. I was thrilled by this as was William, and it put a nice cap on a fun wintery day with my son.
