Interesting interview with Craig Mundie, Microsoft's Chief Research and Strategy Officer in the CIO magazine
"The next thing that will emerge is an architecture that allows theapplication developer to think of the cloud plus the clientarchitecturally as a single thing. In a sense, it is like client/severcomputing in the enterprise. It was the homogeneity that existedbetween some of the facilities at the server and the client end thatallowed people to build those applications. We've never had that kindof architectural homogeneity in this cloud-plus-client orInternet-plus-smart-devices world, and I'm predicting that will be thenext big thing."

"The idea of electronic medical records is uninteresting? Yes, in theway that people have historically talked about them. In fact, thisAmalga product that we've been building and deploying really movesbeyond the idea that you need a prior, specified medical record. Itjust ingests all of the historical medical information, synthesizesmetadata, flattens it out and creates a new abstraction for dealingwith all for the medical information."
