Hi Anthony great post. I recommend the -P option of syncvg . You can really get some throughput tinkering with the amount you specify.

What a great idea! I see that -P sets the number of logical partitions to be synchronized in parallel. It would save a lot of time, provided the I/O can cope. I think that merits another post. I'll do some comparisons and report back. Thanks for the tip.

The default for -P is 4. I often use values up to 16 during low I/O periods with good results. YMMV, depending on configuration. On our configs, higher than 16 doesn't seem to benefit.
