It was a wonderful experience attending this year's Interconnect 2016 in Las Vegas. Lots of new announcements like IBM & VMware partnership, SWIFT was added to open source and the best one was Tanmay Bakshi the youngest developer, was the highlight of the general speaker session.
Also, the conference was loudly welcoming all of us to Cognitive era!
While TCS was Gold Sponsors in the conference and had a booth # 810 demonstrating various solution offerings and insights; there were 5 speakers slots where TCS presented their Thought Leadership on various topics. Out of which, I presented the following topics:
Leveraging IBM Bluemix for Social Collaboration
Delivering Digital Experience for BigData & Analytics
In my next blog, I will share some more thoughts on the above topics.
We are organising a virtual (i.e. web-conference-based) Meet the Labs event with the Dublin Connections developers on 1st and 2nd October. Please join us and access the recordings of all the sessions afterwards:

This time IBM's Consultants & Systems Integrator Interchange (CSII) event was held in Jaipur (The Pink City of India). The 3 days (actually 2.5 days) event started with keynote sessions and was fully packed with series of knowledge sharing session. This gives us a great opportunity to meet key IBM Leaders (sales as well as technical) in person and exchange lots of information and thoughts. This my 5th CSII event participation and I have seen this improving & getting better every year and theme being "Transformation for Growth".
As we had fully powere packed track sessions, meetings, hands-on experiences; we also had some fun and amusements in the evening with traditional music and rock n roll.
Thus the experience was very good and looking forward to participate in many such event.
Though it is more than a month, but still cannot resist myself to share my experience...
It was pleasure for me to participate in the "IBM Digital Experience Conference 2014 - Americas" in Anaheim, CA between 21st Jul - 24th Jul. The conference was was attended by approximately 1000 attendees that included Organization Executives (C-suite/CHRO) and IT professionals, Line of Business Executives, Business Analysts, Marketing & Sales Professionals, Digital Experience Professionals, IBM Business Partners & IT decision makers with full of insights on how to deliver customer-centered sales, service and support multi-channel digital experiences through use of technology and strategies in the areas of Social, Mobile, Cloud, Smarter Workforce, Commerce, Enterprise Market Management services, and more.
As tons of knowledge were shared across with over 125+ session tracks and 15+ hands-on labs, TCS presented a topic session on "Portal Farm Topology (Instance Cloning) on Public Cloud" under 'Best Practices' track mentioning about our journey towards implementing IBM WebSphere Portal on Cloud for a leading telecom customer in India.
It was also pleasure to meet some of key leaders in person; like Stephan Powers (Vice President & Research Director, @ Forrester), Robert Will (IBM Chief Architect, IBM WebSphere Portal & WCM @ IBM Labs US), Paul Kelsey (IBM WebSphere Portal & Cloud Architect @ IBM Labs), Lou Sassano & Jeff Seifert (Business Unit Executives Sales @ IBM SWG) and few of Customers to discuss on some potential aspects.
More importantly, the conference gave TCS a good platform to share its expertise in the areas of IBM WebSphere Portal & Cloud implementation. Meeting customers in person gave them a good confidence about TCS capabilities. Also, understanding of new market trends and IBM product offerings & roadmaps.
The conference has given TCS a great visibility in terms of ‘Thought Leadership’ in both Americas and Europe. Participating more in such events will take the level of TCS higher in the global market not only with respect to its practice & capabilities in Digital Experience and Social Collaboration technology but also help TCS grow with respect to recognition.
I am very eager to attend another version of “IBM Digital Experience Europe” coming up in October this year in Dusseldorf, Germany focusing Europe as geography.
In the process of integrating iNotes® with the Notes Browser Plug-in, it is also possible for you to open Notes applications in the Notes Browser Plug-in. If you receive a Notes application link (also called a doc link) in your iNotes email, clicking the application link will launch the application in the Notes Browser Plug-in. This works only if the Notes Browser Plug-in is installed on your system, and configured properly.
In addition, sometimes the opening of Notes application links or doc links depends upon the settings and configuration of the iNotes server. You may sometimes see and open a Notes application link or doc link only if the email was sent from iNotes, and not from the Notes Standard rich client.

Moving to IBM SmartCloud Notes Web for browser based access to mail? Notes Browser Plugin will help you access your existing Notes/Domino applications from the browser. NBP and Notes Web are closely integrated for a smooth browser based solution for mails and applications
Simple steps to configure NBP on IBM SmartCloud
You must have the following information in order to successfully configure the IBM® Notes® Browser Plug-in for use with your IBM SmartCloud™ Notes account:
Notes client user ID
Login name for IBM SmartCloud for Social Business. Your new SmartCloud Notes email address will be your log-in name. For example: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Temporary password. You get this from your administrator. You will be asked to change this password the first time you log in.
Double-click the icon to launch the Notes Browser Plug-in.

Background: This step is not meant to configure the IBM Notes Browser Plug-in client to connect to a SmartCloud Notes mail server yet. At this point you are simply configuring the IBM Notes Browser Plug-in client so that it is in a state where it can be configured to access the SmartCloud Notes servers. What you enter into the Your name field is not significant and does not have to be a SmartCloud for Social Business login name.
You should not enter anything into the Domino® server field. Enter a name in the Your Name field.
Uncheck the checkbox I want to connect to a Domino server.
Note that this action greys out the Domino server field. Click Next.
Click Finish. The Notes Browser plug-in home page is displayed.
Copy the Notes client user ID that your administrator gave you to the Notes data directory on your system.
From the Notes menu, click File >Security > Switch ID. Note: Switch ID and Switch Location options are available only under the following conditions: on the home page, with no other tabs open, and only in Offline location. (no domino server specified in the location document)
In your Notes data directory, select the ID file and click Open.
Close the browser to exit the Notes Browser Plug-In.
Click the desktop icon to open the Notes Browser Plug-In.

IBM Script Portlet for WebSphere Portal provides Line of Business users a set of capabilities to quickly develop portlets without having a dependency on IT team. It provides an easy to use mechanism where users can utilize the regular web development technologies like HTML, CSS and JS to customize or create new portlets that comply with JSR 286. This is a browser based tool that leverages WCM functionality to store the content thus created.
Jaspreet Singh, lead developer of Script Portlet and myself would be presenting this development tool and demo it's unique advantages at IBM Digital Experience Conference at Anaheim in couple of weeks.
The first session is on Tuesday, July 22 starting at 11:15 AM in Malibu, followed by a repeat on Wednesday, July 23 at 9:45 AM in Pacific Ballroom B.
