Austin Texas is well know for its excellent Tex Mex eats, BBQ and some of the best music in the world, but its also a
hotbed of Entrepreneurship.
There have been many
great Startups to come out of Texas, but one of the most famous Startups to come out of Austin is Whole Foods, which was founded in Austin, Texas, by four local
Entrepreneurs, who decided the natural foods industry was ready for a supermarket model.
Austin is home of SXSW, one of the most important Tech gatherings in the
country. Each year you can count on big Startup news announced there. In past years, the conference has helped launch both
Twitter and Foursquare, and this years news was no exception.
GroupMe - Which lets you effortlessly group text with the people in your
life that are important to you, and Beluga, - who helps groups of friends
stay in touch on the go from your phone, and Bump - Which makes connecting as
simple as bumping two phones together, all made a big splash in the SXSW pond this year as well as Whrrl - A location-based social application designed to help you discover places
to go and things to do, and Chomp - An application that allows you to search
based on what apps do, not just what they’re called.
