It's Christmas day and Santa is on his journey to distribute gifts. For the people who want to track his route, it will not be an easy decision to make this time. The reason is that this time NORAD (North American Aerospace Defence Command), the agency which has been tracking Santa since 1955 has teamed up with Microsoft this year to track Santa's route at noradsanta while Google on the other end has come up with It's own tracking system SantaTracker.
Though we might think that both are reliable systems for tracking Santa but the interesting part is that both tracking systems have gone completely out of sync. When I looked at the two websites, I saw pretty different statistics.
Here are the snapshots from both the websites at same time :
1. Santatracker from Google
According to the news story on washingtonpost :
He said Google likely relies on alternative technology, such as tracking Santa’s in-sleigh WiFi signal, causing a possible lag in showing his exact location. Sullivan also guessed that Google was using an algorithm to estimate the number of gifts delivered, while NORAD might have the ability to identify individual gifts, and perhaps even smaller items such as stocking stuffers.
