Recently, I worked with an airline company to identify why a few transactions out of hundreds per second were failing. Many z/OS applications act as a TCP/IP server and accept connections from users or applications on other hosts and mobile devices. The application at this customer that is experiencing problems does accept connections from end users, but it also acts as a TCP/IP client to retrieve information from servers running on Linux. Just heard from a customer... OMEGAMON XE for Mainframe Networks provided immediate value to the customer. The very first time that the customer logged on to the OMEGAMON Enhanced 3270 User Interface, they identified an application that had a high number of connection requests that were rejected. The application was not accepting the connection requests fast enough or was not configured properly.
Over 50K requests had been rejected. This may have been 50,000 customers that were not able to place orders, or 50,000 business... [More]
APAR OA43920 ( www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg1OA43920 ) adds support for your OSA-Express5S hardware in OMEGAMON XE for Mainframe Networks version 5. OSA-Express5S is a technology refresh and introduces a new SNMP MIB with a new set of metrics. This APAR adds 4 attribute groups to OMEGAMON XE for Mainframe Networks version 5. Customers who are running OMEGAMON XE for Mainframe Networks version 4.2 will need to upgrade to version 5 in order to monitor OSA-Express5S.
