This plug-in provides the ability to view OMEGAMON XE data in Eclipse. This allows OMEGAMON gathered data to be viewed in conjunction with data from other Eclipse-based applications such as CICS Explorer.
This version of the plug-in displays most Tivoli monitoring systems and their on-line status, and displays OMEGAMON monitoring data from OMEGAMON for CICS (including CICS TG data). The application also displays a list of currently active situations in the monitored systems. Data is pulled from the Tivoli Monitoring environment via the SOAP interface on the hub Tivoli Monitoring Enterprise Server (TEMS).
The key changes in this new version (V18.104.22.168) is support for users who have deployed an ITM V6.2.3 TEMS and OMEGAMON XE for CICS V5.1.0.
When the plug-in connects to the SOAP sever, it downloads information about what systems are monitored and constructs a navigation tree showing the monitoring and monitored systems. The perspective is made up a layout of 3 panels as shown in the screenshot above. The left-hand panel contains the topology panel which displays a topology tree which is similar to that displayed in the TEP client. The top-right panel contains the query results panel which typically displays the results of the query associated with the currently selected node in the topology tree. The bottom-right panel displays the situations panel which displays the current situation events from the TEMS.
As this is an Eclipse application, the views can be moved around, re-sized or placed on other Eclipse perspectives (such as the CICS Explorer perspective). Other Eclipse views can be added to this perspective, including the CICS Explorer views.
Under the Topology View, clicking on an item in the tree causes the query results view to be updated to display data appropriate to the selected item (This version of the plug-in only supports queries for the OMEGAMON XE for CICS product). The topology view supports the launching of the TEP browser client. TEP launching is available by clicking on the 'Launch TEP' icon in the topology view's toolbar, or as a right-click menu option.
Although this is an unsupported offering, we are keen to hear feedback on the plug-in. Feel free to post questions and suggestions to the blog entry or within the CICS Explorer forum. If this plug-in is something you see of value to your work, we recommend raising a formal "Request for Enhancement" at the Tivoli RFE Community.
