Christopher Walker of the OMEGAMON XE for CICS on z/OS development team recently penned an outstanding article, "OMEGAMON XE for CICS on z/OS V5.1: Providing an Integrated Monitoring Infrastructure," which was picked up by Z Mainframe Zone.com, that highlighted among other things, the monitoring enhancements for the OMEGAMON XE for CICS on z/OS latest release, v5.1.0. The original article appeared in June/July issue of the Enterprise Tech Journal.

In addition to describing the monitoring enhancements, Walker cited several improvements that focus on configuration and maintenance of the OMEGAMON products and how they improve the time-to-value and reduce the time spent keeping the monitoring environment up-to-date. For example, the simplified infrastructure, a shared address space for the e3270ui is used by all OMEGAMON products rather than individual address spaces per-product, per-LPAR. Also, the enhanced configuration tooling, that instead of configuring each monitoring product individually, the PARMGEN method lets a user define the monitoring run-time environment and indicate which products they wish to include in that environment in a single operation. And finally, the Self-Describing Agents (SDAs), an SDA-enabled agent, for example, OMEGAMON XE for CICS on z/OS v5.1.0, can provide all the application support data needed to be deployed onto the other components of the Tivoli monitoring environment.
Great job Chris!
