Social Media is something that is very important since people like to meet and be social. So maintaining good social media connections is a part of being a social business. Social Media are a way of expanding the customer base. When people click like or things like that it causes other people to look at that page. This means that you have a voluntery expanding social base which can make you more known. But social media is also very fractured which means that getting what you want out of it is very hard. When you think about there are no real one-stop places for social media, so you have to be in many places at once which can cause both confusion and inefficiency. This is the problem of GBS since it is in many social media sites but those sites are ineffective. The paper this blog is based on discusses that you need to know what you want for social media and then just implement that well. Overall you need to decide your goals and then only use what you need to accomplish that goal and not overkill by being everywhere. The big thing to really do to become a social business is to have social media down pat. So I would have actual IT people read this paper since they are the ones that should implement this in a manner which helps a company GBS. My thoughts are that GBS has many social sites that have no set goal and are implemented mostly by public relations people. In truth what you need more is a collaboration between IT and public relations where they have set goals and decide on what to use.
