In this blog entry I focused on just the language localization/translation aspect of software globalization and even within this limited topic I did not describe how I handled multiple character sets. (Including Russian in the mix with my Solitaire game meant that my application required support for a character set other than Latin-1. You can see how I handled this by visiting the open-source project for EGL Solitaire (<a class="jive-link-external" href="http://solitaireegl.sourceforge.net/">http://solitaireegl.sourceforge.net/</a>) and downloading the code.) In the case of most business applications there are additional considerations such as text and numeric value input. Depending on your target audience you may need to support multiple standards for date and currency input and presentation. With proper planning and design your EGL applications can accommodate all aspects of globalization with relative ease.
