Java enthusiasts, your patience has paid off.
The recent debut of Java SE 7 was the first major Java technology release in nearly five years, and this week IBM is rolling out its own edition: IBM SDK Java Technology Edition Version 7. It features a wide range of performance improvements, including NIO2 asynchronous I/O, more efficient garbage collection, improved consumability, and more. How much more? Well, I defer to the expert -- specifically, IBM Java 7 Technical Lead Trent Gray-Donald, who, in this video interview, provides a first-rate overview of the IBM SDK for Java 7 and what it offers over previous releases.
And should you find yourself hungry for more Java programming resources -- including tutorials, demos, and in-depth articles like Alex Miller's new piece on Clojure -- then make your way over to our Java technology zone, where we've been keeping tabs on this popular language and platform for a dozen years. (Since J2SE 1.2, for those of you who are keeping track.)
Until next week,
John Swanson and the developerWorks editorial team
