This is the time of year when my inbox fills with out-of-office messages from those of you who are cashing in your well-earned vacation time (and yes, I do read them, if only to experience your holidays vicariously). However, many of the good folks who support IBM WebSphere solutions are conspicuously present at work right now, as they have plenty to keep them busy.
For example, the newly released WebSphere Application Server V8 is the most significant update to the product in three years. And the latest issue of the WebSphere Technical Journal is the best place to find out what's changed (including improved performance and garbage collection) -- along with news about other related releases like WebSphere Application Server Feature Pack for Web 2.0 and Mobile. Then there's the V7.5 release of IBM Business Process Manager, a comprehensive and integrated platform for monitoring and managing business processes. And who better to give it the coverage it deserves than the IBM Business Process Management Journal? You can start with Marc Fasbinder's excellent overview article, which illustrates how the new release can make BPM a whole lot easier.
So be sure to check out all the action on developerWorks WebSphere this week. It'll give my colleagues a little something to smile about when they do finally clock out for a few days. I'm looking forward to their auto-replies.
Until next week,
John Swanson and the developerWorks editorial team
