The main objective of this course is to demonstrate to both medical and computer science students the great possibilities of health informatics. Health informatics allows efficient exploration of medical data and testing results using statistical tools. Many years of experience in the field of health informatics allow us to select only the most vital, state-of-the-art problems, which will enrich the theoretical content. To put the theory into practice, our course will include a laboratory module that will introduce course attendants both to implementing lecture topics and familiarizing them with dedicated IBM software. IBM DB2 Intelligent Miner and IBM SPSS Statistics will provide an excellent environment for solving accessible, yet complex, problems with high didactic value.
