ITCAM for Transactions 7.3 is now available to download. It includes a significant new feature called "agentless tracking", which is a very fast and simple way to get an overall picture of your environment's transaction performance. It captures network traffic and reports the interactions between servers and applications. It integrates seamlessly into the existing user interface, combining the breadth of agentless tracking with the depth of agent-based tracking.
Agentless tracking is built on top of the proven Web Response Time agent. This agent was previously responsible for deep analysis of HTTP traffic and is now capable of monitoring all TCP traffic. A single agent is often all that is required to analyze a network segment which means that significant network coverage can be achieved with minimal installation effort. Most importantly, it can be done with no impact to running applications and no configuration required on individual application servers.
Once deployed, the Transaction Reporter agent constructs the topology and provides a bird's eye view of the environment. The workspaces can display metrics on response time, network time, network bandwidth and more. Like all transaction tracking metrics, baselines are calculated and deviations are detected for quickly identifying anomalies in application behavior. The agentless topology can expose unexpected server interactions and can be used as the starting point for the targeted deployment of agent-based tracking.
