Information markets are a means by which consensus can be achieved for a given problem. This idea that two minds are better than one is taken to the extreme via the internet. A virtually unlimited number of people can have a voice. This sheer volume leads to an answer or consensus that is more often than not, correct.
Social media as a platform is inherently a great place to host information markets. Many companies have attempted this with varying success. The problem often enough is one of upper management support. Just as a project will likely fail without important stakeholder approval, so does the success of these private corporate information markets.
Does anyone work for a company who has successfully implemented this idea? If so, what was it in your opinion that made it successful?
